Support for Schools Campaign
On 24th September 2026, high-level government representatives, funders, academics and NGO leaders gathered at UN Headquarters for a second time to highlight the importance of healthy indoor air in schools. Watch this years United Nations proceedings here.
To mark the occasion, we're launching our 2026 campaign: Support for Schools.
National guidance is now asking schools to take action on issues including allergy safety, ventilation and indoor air quality. But guidance is only useful if schools have the support they need to put it into practice. We're sharing a letter template so school communities can ask their own decision makers: what support is available for schools in our area?
What support is in place for your local school?
1. Write to your council's Director for Education, Public Health and/or Director for Children's Services to ask what support is available to help schools implement the new Department For Education guidance.
2. Find your local representative through your council's website. Search the site for "Director of Education", "Director of Public Health", or "Director of Children's Services". Titles vary a little between councils.
3. Help us collate local feedback by sharing what you learn.

Global Healthy Indoor Air Advocacy
From Hampshire to the United Nations in New York.
In 2025, we stood alongside global leaders, scientists, and health experts at the historic event, Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call to Action. We ensured that children’s voices were not only included, but placed at the heart of the conversation.
Safe Air Schools are proud partners and Nathalie became a founding signatory of the first Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air, launched at the event.

World Ventilation Day
A child-led awareness campaign
Our Hampshire air quality champion produced a video for World Ventilation Day which trended on social media, raising awareness and educating the public.
She also built and donated a DIY air filter to her school to mark the day.
